Round-up: Karthik blitz to Lewis show

Evin Lewis made short work of the 190 target set by the Indian team. It was boundaries galore at Kingston, where the visitors found the defending world T20 champions too hard to beat.

Kohli provides a breezy start

Being put in to bat first, the Indian batsmen got into the thick of things right away. Shikhar Dhawan walked out to bat with Virat Kohli, who opens for the Royal Challengers Bangalore as well. Together, they struck thirteen boundaries. They seemed on song to set an unassailable target.

Karthik's audacious blitz

Carrying forward his confidence from the previous game, Karthik announced himself all guns blazing. He struck eight lusty blows for his 48 in only 29 balls. He used his feet well and put plenty of pressure on the young West Indian bowlers.

Quick wickets

India were flying away with the score. But what was estimated to be a 220 target, was reduced to 191. A par score on this pitch, but India would have been disappointed with the effort. They could have gotten 20-30 runs more.

A little Gayle scare

Chris Gayle made a comeback to national colors with much anticipation. He scored 18 off 20 balls with one massive six and a boundary. He fell to debutant Kuldeep Yadav in the 9th over.

The Evin Lewis Show

While it seemed like a steep target, the pitch was a good one. For Evin Lewis, it seemed ridiculously easy to bat on. It was as if he was playing stick cricket online. He smashed 6 boundaries and hit 12 balls into outer space. Playing with a strike rate of 201.61, he wrapped the game up in 18.3 overs and bagged the Man of the Match for his awe-worthy century. He was well supported on the other end by Marlon Samuels.
