Ball-by-ball details & scorecard: Brisbane Heat v Melbourne Renegades - Match 26 - Brisbane

Sam Harper and Tom Cooper were involved in an unbroken century stand as Melbourne Renegades picked up their fourth win of the BBL season to be placed second position on the points table.

Renegades were initially in trouble when they lost openers Mackenzie Harvey and Marcus Harris in the span of five deliveries after they added 37 for the opening wicket.

Renegades could have been put under more pressure had Chris Lynn grabbed a tough opportunity that came his way during the last over of the powerplay.

Brendan Doggett then went through a frustrating phase where he gave Tom Cooper another reprieve before conceding a couple of boundaries to Harper in the tenth over to almost concede the chase. From that point onwards, it was easy work for the duo as they milked the bowling attack to complete the formalities.

Sam Harper ended up with 56 off 40 balls whereas Tom Cooper finished with 36 off 28 balls.

Earlier, a collective batting failure meant Heat could muster only 144/8 in their quota, a total that was always going to be just a par score. Brendon McCullum was the only one to put up a fight but even the veteran took 47 balls to make 50 that hampered the scoring rate.

Ben Cutting gave his side some much-needed injection at the death but his wicket off the final ball of the 18th over meant the home side could muster only 11 runs in the final two overs. Usman Khan was the pick of the bowlers as he finished with figures of 3/16.
