Half centuries by Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey outclassed Matthew Wade's 88 off 54 balls as Adelaide Strikers got to a comfortable seven-wicket win over Hobart Hurricanes.

Being asked to bat first, Wade led Hurricane's charge with a 54-ball 88 to lay a strong foundation for his side.

After Wade’s dismissal, Hurricanes struggled to push for big runs in the death. Ben Laughlin was the most impressive bowler for Strikers, returning 3 for 31, while Rashid Khan and Michael Neser bagged two wickets each as the hosts were restricted to 169 for 7.

In reply, Strikers started on a positive note with the opening duo of Weatherheld and Carey putting on a century partnership. The quick-fire 116-run partnership took all of 64 balls, washing away the threat of Hurricanes' challenge.

Even as Strikers suffered a hiccup later on in the run chase, getting reduced to 146 for 3 in the next four overs, the required rate had fallen below run-a-ball, making it easy for them to go past the total.

While the defeat had no significant impact on Hurricanes' position on the points table, Strikers have kept their fight on for a semifinal spot.
