The Perth Scorchers have secured a 27-run victory over the Melbourne Stars in what was a perfect send-off for their stalwart batsman Michael Klinger.
Ashton Turner provided the fireworks and smashed 69, including seven fours and three sixes to record his best score of the season and claim the Player of the Match award.
Scorchers got off to a good start in the powerplay, scoring 47 before Jackson Bird broke through with the first wicket of the night, removing Josh Inglis who was caught by Maxwell for 26 runs.
Michael Klinger stood tall with a great effort of 30 off 31 balls before he was dismissed, ending his final BBL innings.
Cameron Bancroft scored 44 off 27, while batting at No 4. He produced an important knock to lift the Scorchers to 182, which was their highest score of the season.
In reply, Nathan Coulter-Nile came out firing with the ball returning 3-30 off his four overs.
The Scorchers applied the brakes when Andrew Tye and skipper Mitch Marsh took the big scalps of Glenn Maxwell (61) and Marcus Stoinis (49) respectively in the space of three balls.
The wickets continued to fall with Kelly producing a masterclass with the ball returning figures of 3-31 helping to restrict the Stars to 9-155 from their 20 overs.
