Bowlers, Umar Akmal propelled Quetta Gladiators to a comfortable six-wicket win over Peshawar Zalmi in the third match of the Pakistan Super League 2019.
Akmal struck a magnificent 50-ball 76 which saw his side chase down 156 with two balls to spare. Quetta weren’t off to a great start when their opener Ahmed Shahzad was pinned first ball right in front of the stumps by Hasan Ali.
Shane Watson was soon dismissed when he was fairly early in his shot and all he could get was the toe-end of his bat which handed a straight forward catch to long-on fielder.
He was followed by Rossouw who got out to one of his favorite shots in the eighth over. But Akmal and Sarfraz then turned the tables as they stitched a 62-run partnership to set the run-chase for their side. Akmal’s innings consisted of seven fours and three sixes, whereas Sarfraz scored a handy 37 off 29 balls.
Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi were given a decent start by inform opener, Kamran Akmal. Akmal’s crucial 49 off 36 balls gave a much needed thrust before they were squeezed in the middle overs by Quetta Gladiators.
A late charge by Misbah-ul-Haq (49* off 32) and Liam Dawson (21* off 14) gave Zalmi a ray of hope but they were well short after the kind of start they were off to.
