Salman Butt has been announced as replacement for injured Mohammad Hafeez in Lahore Qalandars’ squad for the remaining PSL 2019.
Hafeez had sustained an injury to his right thumb while fielding off his own bowling against Karachi Kings when Colin Ingram struck a powerful shot back at him. The intensity of the hit was such that the ball burst through his fingers.
He was immediately taken off the field and missed the subsequent game against Peshawar Zalmi as AB de Villiers was handed over the captaincy duties.
Further tests revealed that the 38-year-old needed surgery and will stay out of action for 4 to 6 weeks.
Salman Butt has been a part of the player draft for the last three years and replaces Hafeez as a silver category player.
In 78 T20s, Butt has scored 2,278 runs at an average of over 36 with a strike-rate of 113.5.
Lahore have lost two of their three games in the first leg of the tournament and will face Multan Sultans on February 22.
