David Warner and Jonny Bairstow went all guns blazing as Sunrisers Hyderabad got the better of Rajasthan Royals by five wickets in the 8th match of the Indian Premier League 2019.
Warner (69 off 37) and Bairstow (45 off 28) constructed a 110-run partnership against a clueless Rajasthan bowling attack to set a solid platform while chasing 198.
The opening duo was dismissed in quick succession but Vijay Shankar chipped in with a quick fire 35 off 15 balls to keep things going on for his side.
But Shreyas Gopal struck twice in one over with wickets of Shankar and Pandey and at that point of the game, Sunrisers required 30 off 24 balls.
Yusuf Pathan and Rashid Khan then brought the equation down to 12 off 12. With Jofra Archer conceding four runs off the first four balls of his over, Rashid Khan smashed a four and a six to seal a win for his side with one over to spare.
Earlier, after opting to bat first, weren’t off to a great start as Jos Buttler was dislodged by young Afghan sensation Rashid Khan.
But Sanju Samson and Ajinkya Rahane took the attack back to the opposition with a 119-run partnership.
Samson was ruthless in his strokeplay, smashing ten fours and four sixes to remain unbeaten on 102 off 55 balls.
Rashid Khan was declared man of the match for his all-round performance.
