KL Rahul starred in Kings XI Punjab's 177-run chase with an unbeaten 57-ball 71 against Mumbai Indians to power his side to the second win of the season at PCA Stadium, Mohali on Saturday.
Rahul was assisted by Chris Gayle (40 off 24) and Mayank Agarwal (43 off 21) in 53 and 64 runs partnerships for the first two wickets before he added 60 for the third-wicket stand with David Miller (15 off 10) to take Punjab home without any hiccups.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Mumbai rode on Quinton de Kock's half-century (60 off 39) and Hardik Pandya's (31 off 19) late to post 176 for 7. Skipper Rohit Sharma (32 off 18) added 51 runs for the first wicket with de Kock before he was trapped lbw by Hardus Viljoen. Suryakumar Yadav (11 off 6) and Yuvraj Singh (18 off 22) both got starts but failed to kick on, both removed by Murugan Ashwin who finished with the figures of 2-25.
Kieron Pollard (7 off 9) fell for another low score while Krunal Pandya scored 10 off 5.
Mohammad Shami and Hardus Viljoen returned with the figures of 2-42 and 2-40.
Mayank Agarwal was adjudged the player of the match for his 21-ball 43.
