Openers Jonny Bairstow and David Warner struck centuries while Mohammad Nabi took 4-11 as Sunrisers Hyderabad demolished Royal Challengers Bangalore by 118 runs in the 11th match of IPL 2019.
Put into bat first, Bairstow (114 off 56) and David Warner (100* off 55) powered Sunrisers to a massive total of 231 for two. Bairstow brought up his century off 52 balls. His knock off 114 included 12 boundaries and 7 maximums. The duo added 185 runs for the first-wicket partnership before Bairstow finally fell in the 17th over off Yuzvendra Chahal. Vijay Shankar was run out after scoring nine off three balls while Yusuf Pathan remained not out at six. Warner raised his century on the fourth ball of the last over of the innings from Mohammad Siraj with a boundary. Warner hit five sixes and fours each on course to his hundred.
In reply, RCB were reduced to 35 for six in 7.2 overs and the game was done and dusted right there with the bigwigs including AB de Villiers (1), Virat Kohli (3), Moeen Ali (2) and Shimron Hetmyer (9) all falling flat.
Mohammad Nabi was the chief tormentor of the RCB top order with the figures of four for just 11 runs including the scalps of Parthiv Patel (11), Hetmyer, de Villiers and Shivam Dube (5). Colin de Grandhomme (37 off 32), Prayas Ray Barman (19 off 24) and Umesh Yadav (14 off 9) saved RCB from the embarrassment of lowest IPL score with their cameos. The visitors were bowled out for 113 on the second last ball of the innings.
Sandeep Sharma returned with the figures of three for 19.
Jonny Bairstow was adjudged the player of the match for his maiden IPL ton.
