Umar Akmal docked 20 per cent of his match fee for breaking team curfew

Umar Akmal has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for the fifth ODI against Australia and received an official reprimand for a late night-out after the fourth ODI in Dubai.

According to a PCB statement, Umar pleaded guilty to the charge, apologised for his actions and accepted the sanction proposed by team manager Talat Ali.

“I am glad that Umar has realised his mistake, and has accepted and apologised for his actions, which were clearly unprofessional and in no way can be ignored or overlooked," PCB Managing Director Wasim Khan said.

“The PCB expects a high level of professionalism and commitment from its players, and this action is a reiteration and timely reminder that any indiscipline shall not be tolerated or accepted.”

Umar was reportedly out attending an Akon concert on Friday night after the fourth ODI without seeking permission from the team management. His late return violated the team curfew timings.

The Australia series was Umar's first international assignment in nearly two years.
