Khushdil Shah’s blistering 154* stunned Punjab as KPK romped to a stunning four-wicket win in the 4th match of the Pakistan Cup 2019.
The left-handed batsman alongside Adnan Akmal smashed a record 229-run partnership for the sixth wicket to clinch an unlikely win for their side.
With 342 to win, KPK were reduced to 105/5 in 19.3 overs at one stage.
But Khushdil Shah took the game away almost single-handedly from the opposition, smashing 11 fours and 9 sixes in his whirlwind innings.
He was aptly supported by Adnan Akmal, who scored 79 off 72 balls, but was cleaned up by Hussain Talat. But at that point in the game, the match was almost over as KPK only needed 8 runs.
KPK completed the target in 46.3 overs.
Punjab were off to a decent start when they lost Kamran Akmal almost before the end of first powerplay. He made 30 off 27.
Khurram Manzoor soon followed Kamran as he was dismissed by Zohaib Khan for a 55-ball 57.
Sami Aslam and Iftikhar Ahmed constructed a 100-run partnership to keep things going on for their side on a flat wicket.
Following the dismissal of Sami Aslam (68 off 63), Iftikhar and Saad Ali stitched a 105-run partnership.
Iftikhar Ahmed went on to make a hundred before Wahab Riaz got the better of him.
Punjab ended up with a score of 341 from 50 overs.
Khushdil Shah was declared player of the match for his stunning knock.
