Sahibzada Farhan, Ahsan Ali and an all-round performance from Hammad Azam powered Sindh to a convincing 85-run win over Federal Areas in a high-scoring contest.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Sindh lost their opener Umar Siddiq early in the peace.
Sahibzada Farhan and Ahsan Ali then hammered Federal Areas’ bowlers to all parts of the ground, forming a 203-run partnership to set-up a strong platform for the other batsmen to take the game forward.
Sahibzada Farhan struck 83 off 92 balls, hitting 12 boundaries in his innings.
On the other hand, Ahsan Ali scored a hundred, smashing 16 fours and two sixes during his stay at the crease.
Later on the innings, Umar Amin remained unbeaten in his 46-ball 69 while Hammad Azam took the opposition on, scoring 78 off just 35 balls. Sindh scored 385 from their 50 overs, setting up a mammoth challenge for the opposition.
In reply, veteran Umar Gul struck twice right at the start, removing both openers to dent the progress of Federal Areas.
Saud Shakeel scored a half-century while batting at No 3, while Rizwan and Sohaib Maqsood didn’t fire.
Lower down the order, Rameez Raja (70 off 62) and Mohammad Nawaz (55 off 51) offered some resistance but the duo was nipped out by Hammad Azam, who had an outstanding time with the bat earlier.
Federal Areas were bowled out for 300 in 43 overs.
Hammad Azam ended up taking four wickets while Umar Gul picked three.
