Sami Aslam, Iftikhar Ahmed and Saad Ali powered Punjab to seven-wicket win over Federal Areas.
With 322 to win, openers Khurram Manzoor and Kamran Akmal added 47 for the first wicket partnership before the latter perished, caught by Asad Afridi off Khurram Shehzad’s bowling.
Khurram Manzoor soon followed Kamran after scoring 39 off 47 balls. At that point, Punjab were 65 for 2 in 13 overs.
But Sami Aslam and Iftikhar Ahmed slowly began to take the game away from the opposition, putting up a 116-run partnership.
Sami Aslam was pinned in front by Asad Afridi after scoring a 73-ball 81. He struck ten fours and two maximums during his stay at the crease.
The pair of Iftikhar and Saad Ali then eased their way through, smashing the opposition to all parts of the ground.
Iftikhar remained unbeaten on 109 while Saad smashed 76 off just 50 balls. The left-handed batsman struck 11 fours and one maximum.
Punjab hunted down the target in 46.4 overs.
Earlier, after opting to bowl first, Ahmed Shehzad (74 off 78) and Israrullah (96 off 95) put on 158 for the first wicket.
However, there wasn’t much significant addition from the middle and lower order batsmen.
Sohaib Maqsood struck 55 off 45 balls but was pinned by paceman Mohammad Sami.
Federal Areas were bowled out for 321 with two balls to spare.
