Bowlers, Ali Imran and Umar Akmal shone as Balochistan continued their golden run in the ongoing Pakistan Cup with a 23-run win over Federal Areas.
Federal Areas, who were the winners of previous two editions of Pakistan Cup, haven’t managed a single win this year.
With 290 to win, Federal Areas were knocked over for 266 in 46.1 overs.
Mohammad Rizwan top scored with a 67-ball 76 but that wasn’t enough to seal a victory for his side.
Ahmed Shehzad and Israrullah provided Federal Areas a decent start before Shehzad was caught by Amad Butt off Ali Imran’s bowling.
Israrullah soon followed his fellow opening partner when Asad Shafiq’s part-time off-spin got the breakthrough.
Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan put on an impressive 87-run partnership with the latter being the aggressor.
Saud Shakeel scored 40 off 58 before Amad Butt got the better of him.
After Rizwan’s dismissal, there was very little resistance on offer as Federal Areas were bowled out for 266.
Earlier, Balochistan were in massive trouble when they lost both their openers in quick succession.
But the duo of Asad Shafiq (72 off 83) and Ali Imran (77 off 85) shared an impressive 151-run stand.
Later on in the innings, Umar Akmal smashed a whirlwind 77 off 45 balls to provide a much-needed boost.
However, Balochistan were bowled out for 289, with Sadaf Hussain bagging four scalps.
Ali Imran was declared player of the match for his 85-ball 77 and a wicket of Ahmed Shehzad.
