Indian High Court orders BCCI to lift life ban on Sreesanth

An Indian High Court ordered BCCI Monday to lift life ban on fast-bowler Sreesanth for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing during the 2013 edition of the IPL.

Sreesanth along with two other Rajasthan Royal bowlers, Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila, was arrested for bowling poor in the wake of the settlements with the bookmakers.

The Kerala High Court issued the order after the BCCI had refused to follow Delhi trial court orders that had cleared Sreesanth due to lack of sufficient evidence of his involvement in the crime.

"Many people supported me in [through] thick and thin," Hindustan Times quoted Sreesanth say. "They stood with me. I am really indebted to them and I will not let them down."

The BCCI however is contemplating challenging the order in the country’s apex court, according to ESPNcricinfo.

The Indian cricket board has denied Sreesanth several NoCs required from participating in the foreign leagues since his ban.

Sreesanth last played official cricket in 2013.
