Jofra Archer and Riyan Parag onslaught hands Kolkata sixth straight loss

Scorecard & ball-by-ball: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals, Match 43, Kolkata

Jofra Archer hit the winning six to complete a successful run chase for Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders in his last IPL game of the season.

Archer hit an unbeaten 27 off 12 deliveries as Rajasthan chased down their target of 176 with four balls to spare and three wickets in hand.

Teenager Riyan Parag blitzed 47 off 31 balls to set up things before getting out hit wicket in the penultimate over.

"I feel really excited. The tournament didn't go as well as we liked, but moments like these really make me cherish playing for Rajasthan," Archer said after the game.

"Anyone that comes in to replace me and Stokesy will do a great job, I'm sure of that."

Archer was included in the England ODI side to face Pakistan and Ireland next month and will have a chance to make a claim for the World Cup team for which the final deadline is May 23.

Ben Stokes, who will also be leaving Rajasthan along with Archer, had a forgettable IPL season, scoring just 123 runs in nine matches. His bowling numbers were also below-par with just six wickets to his name.

Rajasthan are seventh on the table with just four wins in 11 games so far.

Rajasthan crumbled to 98-5 and then 123-6 before the 17-year-old Parag and Archer put on a crucial 44-run stand to keep them afloat.

Ajinkya Rahane (34 off 21) and Sanju Samson (22 off 15) were the other notable contributors to the chase.

"Riyan Parag, isn't he an impressive young man? And some great contributions from Archer and (Shreyas) Gopal too," said Rajasthan skipper Steve Smith, who will also return home next week to join his national side.

Piyush Chawla (3-20) and Sunil Narine (2-25) were the stand-out performers for Kolkata.

Earlier skipper Dinesh Karthik smashed 97* off 50 balls to steer Kolkata to 175 for six after being asked to bat first.

Karthik struck his career-best knock in T20s with seven fours and nine sixes.

Varun Aaron (2-20), who removed Chris Lynn (0 off 3) and Shubman Gill (14 off 14) was adjudged the player of the match.
