Iram Javed hit 55 off 45 balls, while Nida Dar (32 off 28) and Aliya Riaz (30 off 24) played useful cameos to steer Pakistan women to a four-wicket victory over South Africa women in the third T20I in Pietermaritzburg.
Iram's innings included six fours and a six as Pakistan achieved their target of 139 with two balls and four wickets to spare to go 2-1 up with two games to go.
Iram received good support from Nida Dar, whose knock included four fours and a six, and the duo added 77 runs for the fourth-wicket stand after Pakistan were reduced to 3-3 inside first three overs.
After Nida's departure, Iram was ably supported by Aliya, who struck four fours and a six as the two put on 54 runs for the fifth wicket to take Pakistan close to the target.
Iram fell on the first ball of the last over with seven runs still needed. Sana Mir (6 off 2) scored the remaining six runs on the third and fourth deliveries after Kainat Imtiaz (7 off 7) took a single on the second to seal the match in Pakistan’s favour.
Earlier, South Africa women scored 138 for three after choosing to bat first – courtesy an 80-run second-wicket stand between Tazmin Brits (70* off 61) and Nadine de Klerk (36 off 35).
However, it was Sune Luus’s 18-ball cameo that produced 28 runs which lifted the home side to 138 for three.
Iram was adjudged the player of the match for her fifty.
The fourth match of the series will be played on May 22 in Benoni.
