The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced a five-member panel tasked with interviewing candidates for various vacant roles in the team's coaching staff.
The panel comprises: Intikhab Alam (former captain and the longest serving Pakistan team manager and coach), Bazid Khan (former international cricketer and one of the most respected commentators), Asad Ali Khan (member, Board of Governors), Wasim Khan (Chief Executive, PCB) and Zakir Khan (Director – International Cricket).
According to the press release, the interview for the role of head coach and bowling coach is expected to be conducted on Thursday following which the panel's recommendations will be forwarded to PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani.
The interviews for the batting and strength and conditioning coaches will be carried out after the appointment of the new head coach.
Earlier this month, PCB decided to revamp its existing coaching staff and refused to grant extensions to head coach Mickey Arthur, bowling coach Azhar Mahmood, batting coach Grant Flower and fitness trainer Grant Luden.
To maintain confidentiality, the PCB will not release the names of the candidates who will appear in the interview process.
Former Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has been dubbed as the frontrunner for the head coach job after he resigned from the PCB Cricket Committee to apply for the position.
