Dinesh Chandimal will not be a part of the ongoing Sri Lankan series against India anymore as he sustained a hairline fracture in his right thumb during the third ODI at Pallekele on Sunday.
Chandimal was batting on 25 when Hardik Pandya’s short-pitched delivery struck him on his hand. The went on to add 11 more before the right-arm pacer got his wicket.
The Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed his injury in a tweet which said: “SLC confirms that Test Capt. @chandi_17 will be out of action for the rest of series after sustaining a hairline fracture to his right thumb”
Chandimal’s injury is a big blow to the injury stricken Lankan camp that has already lost Asela Gunaratne and Nuwan Pradeep.
