Bangladesh have made several changes to their T20 squad including the exclusion of Mehidy Hasan and Rubel Hossain for the home tri-series involving Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.
Mehidy could manage only two wickets across three innings in the ODI series defeat against Sri Lanka recently while Rubel also failed to deliver a memorable performance.
Mohammad Saifuddin, who had sustained a back injury in the World Cup earlier this summer, has been recalled for the T20 tournament scheduled to begin on September 13.
Ariful Haque, Abu Hider, Nazmul Islam and Mohammad Mithun were also left out from the 13-member squad, having last featured in the series against the West Indies in December 2018.
Tamim Iqbal continues to miss out after requesting a break from international cricket.
"We want to see some players for the next T20 World Cup. This is why we changed the squad," said chief selector Minhajul Abedin.
Shakib Al Hasan has been retained as the side's skipper despite being at the receiving end of a 224-run loss against Afghanistan in the one-off Test.
Test specialist Taijul Islam and uncapped pace bowler Yeasin Arafat have earned their maiden T20 call-ups.
Bangladesh will play their first game of the tri-series against Zimbabwe in Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.
