Sourav Ganguly, the incumbent president of Cricket Association of Bengal, is set to be entrusted with the most powerful position of president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
He emerges as the strongest and most favoured candidate to become BCCI's president in the upcoming elections on 23rd October.
Sourav Ganguly, the Indian cricket giant, doesn't have any competitor of the same stature and all other candidates are likely to remain uncontested.
The former India batsman Brijesh Patel is expected to handle the coveted post of Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman. Moreover, Jay Shah is likely to be assigned the job of secretary and Arun Dhumal is set to be the treasurer.
"Yes, Brijesh was running for the President’s post with N Srinivasan actively lobbying for him. However, there was stiff resistance against him. We are happy Sourav is the new President," An official from North East associated unit told PTI.
