Australia captain Aaron Finch is toiling hard to gain fitness before Australia's first T20I against Sri Lanka while suffering from a side strain.
The flamboyant power hitter is likely to miss the upcoming Victoria's Marsh One-Day Cup match against Western Australia in an attempt to get fully fit before the T20I series opener on Sunday, October 27.
"It started out as a little back niggle and it's just a little tear in my side. So hopefully not too long. It's been a week since I did it," Finch told Perth radio 6PR.
Aaron is confident to take the field as soon as possible and hasn't completely ruled out the possibility of playing the one-day game for his team on Wednesday.
"If I can still feel it and it's a little niggle there, I think the medical staff will probably take the conservative route," Finch remarked.
If he recovers in time, Finch will open the Australian innings alongside David Warner while Steve Smith will bat one down in the upcoming T20 series against Sri Lanka.
Finch smashed a quickfire half-century in Victoria's Shield match last week but he didn't play in South Australia's innings after undergoing a back problem.
