Afghanistan have made a host of changes to their ODI squad that last featured in a winless World Cup campaign in England and Wales.
The suspended duo Mohammad Shahzad and Aftab Alam and five other players including veteran paceman Dawlat Zadran have been excluded from the 16-member squad announced for the three-match series against the West Indies in India.
Hashmatullah Shahidi, who scored two half-centuries during the 50-over showpiece event, missed out on retaining his spot in the ODI line-up while 32-year-old fast bowler Hamid Hassan was also among the players left out.
Javed Ahmadi, Afsar Zazai, Karim Janat, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Ibrahim Zadran, Yamin Ahmadzai and Naveen-ul-Haq were the replacements, all of whom have already made their international debut for Afghanistan.
The significant overhaul of the team is symptomatic of the sweeping changes opted by the team management in the aftermath of their catastrophic World Cup experience.
The squad for the T20Is sees the arrival of Ibrahim, Ahmadzai, Ahmadi and Sayed Ahmad Shirzad.
Afghanistan's T20I side fared well in the Bangladesh Twenty20 tri-series where they shared the trophy with the hosts following a washed-out final.
All six limited-overs fixtures will take place in Lucknow before the one-off Test between the two sides on November 27.
