Pakistan ease past Bangladesh by 14 runs in first T20I

Pakistan women triumphed in the first T20I against Bangladesh by 14 runs following neat contributions from batters and bowlers.

Despite a gutsy fifty from Rumana Ahmed, Bangladesh fell short in their pursuit of the modest 127-run target.

A sedate start to their chase was compounded by the frequent loss of wickets, derailing their chase.

Pakistan's spin duo Anam Amin and Sadia Iqbal applied the brakes giving away just 29 runs between them and claiming three scalps.

Meanwhile, medium-pace bowler Aliya Riaz delivered the most frugal spell conceding just 12 runs in four overs and picked up the crucial wicket of Rumana.

Although Pakistan seemed to be cruising to victory for the majority of the second innings, they were pushed on the back foot by Rumana's blistering batting charge in the latter half.

Skipper Bismah Maroof bore the brunt of Rumana's belligerent striking, leaking 23 runs in the second last over of the game.

The 28-year-old, returning to international cricket after a gap of 11 months, struck two sixes during her glittering 30-ball 50 providing the visitors a genuine chance to complete a come-from-behind win at one stage.

Pakistan's total was largely set up by Maroof and Omaima Sohail's steady 60-run stand for the third wicket following the early loss of openers.

A middle-order collapse of sorts triggered by Jahanara Alam's stunning spell of 4-17 threatened to cut Pakistan's innings short by Sidra Nawaz's four boundaries in the 20th over guided them to a defendable score.

Sidra's breezy stay at the crease saw her bludgeon four fours as she accumulated an unbeaten five-ball 16.
