Andrew Tye is likely to stay out of action for three to four months after scans revealed he will require a surgery on his injured elbow.
Tye was a part of the T20I squads to face Sri Lanka and Pakistan but had to sit out before the start of first T20I after injuring his right elbow while throwing during a practice session. He was replaced by New South Wales quick Sean Abbott in the squad.
Scans on his elbow have revealed that he will require a surgery which means he will miss this year's Big Bash League.
His Big Bash franchise Perth Scorchers will be most affected by this as they are now without Jason Behrendorff and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
Behrendorff had opted to have a back surgery to fix his problems with stress fractures while Coulter-Nile was signed by Melbourne Stars.
