Hashim Amla has been appointed as batting consultant for Cape Town Blitz in the upcoming Mzansi Super League.
This is Amla’s first coaching assignment since calling time on his international career after the World Cup.
The 36-year-old will be available for his franchise after November 25 since he is an icon player and captain of Karnataka Tuskers in the Abu Dhabi T10 league.
"Hashim has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the game and we're really looking forward to him bringing that to our management team," Cape Town Blitz coach Ashwell Prince said.
"There are obviously a few very promising young batsmen in our squad, and I think they will benefit immensely from having him around. It's also an opportunity for him to explore whether a position such as batting consultant could be something that he might want to take up in future. I have no doubt that he'd do a great job at it if he did."
In the inaugural season of MSL, Cape Town Blitz made it to the finals but couldn’t get over the line to win the tournament.
They will face Jozi Stars in the opening match on November 8.
