AB de Villiers pulls out of roster for PSL 5

AB de Villiers has opted out of Pakistan Super League 5 owing to 'workload' issues. The belligerent batsman is set to show his dexterity in other T20 global competitions, including the Big Bash League and Indian Premier League, but according to media reports, he won't feature in the next edition of PSL which is entirely planned in Pakistan.

The PSL 5 draft will take place on December 5. De Villiers' withdrawal has turned out to be a severe blow to Lahore Qalandars who were banking on the megastar to turn their fortunes but they won't be able to retain him for the upcoming season.

De Villiers, referred to as Mr 360 for his range and versatility, took the limelight in the last PSL edition and was the biggest signing. The former Proteas skipper didn't disappoint Qalandars as he scored heavily, though he didn't travel to Pakistan in the knockout stage owing to back injury.

However, the coveted PSL trophy still eludes one of the most popular franchises and they were hoping the marquee player could turn the tide in their favour in 2020.

In a highly successful career, De Villers plundered 1672 runs in 78 T20Is at a modest average of 26.12 and boasts a terrific record in ODIs; scoring 9577 runs in 228 ODIs at a stupendous average of 53.50.

An actively sought out jewel by T20 leagues, he adds tremendous value and razzmatazz to any competition. The South African giant had successful outings in the IPL and brought resounding success to Royal Challengers Bangalore in particular.

These days, he is flexing his muscles in South Africa's very own T20 league - Mzansi Super League - which is in its infancy stage as compared to other limited-overs leagues.

De Villiers has shown his prowess in 295 T20s and accumulated 8,000 runs at a phenomenal strike rate around 150.
