Perth Scorchers rope in Chris Jordan for Big Bash League

Chris Jordan has signed with Perth Scorchers for the entirety of the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League.

This will be Jordan's third BBL team after having previously plied his trade for Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder.

Jordan will link up with countryman Liam Livingstone as the other foreign recruit for the Scorchers, who finished at the bottom of the points table last season.

Personnel changes have been plenty for the Scorchers as part of the preparations for the forthcoming competition with the likes of Shaun Marsh and Nathan Coulter-Nile leaving the side while Michael Klinger announced his retirement from BBL.

Jordan's fiery pace and lower-order power-hitting skills have been a notable feature about his presence in England's white-ball unit.

The Barbados-born cricketer has donned the national jersey in 43 T20Is and most recently starred in England's dramatic win in the Super Over finish against New Zealand.

The 31-year-old is expected to fill in the void left by the absence of Jason Behrendorff, who is undergoing a back surgery ruling him out the cricket summer.

“Playing in Perth can be quite hostile (as an opposition player) obviously it’s a sea of orange and everyone is rooting for the Scorchers,” Jordan told the franchise's website.

“I know from experience when the opposition hit a boundary in the stadium there’s no noise, but when the Scorchers are up and about and doing well everyone’s backing them to the hills… I’m looking forward to having some of that on my side!

“When the opportunity for Perth came up it was a pretty hard one to turn down, I know from playing against them how competitive they are, how successful they are so I’m really looking forward to joining such a great franchise.”

Head coach Adam Voges also looked forward to having Jordan on-board as the Scorchers try to add to their trophy cabinet.

“We’re really excited to have Chris on-board, he’s got great experience in T20 cricket and will do a terrific job with the ball, particularly his skills at the death," Voges said.
