Mujeeb Ur Rahman will return to Middlesex for the T20 Blast 2020 where he will be available for all 14 group stage games and the quarter-final match if the club qualifies for the knockouts.
The Afghanistan spinner was a vital cog in the Middlesex lineup this year as he was the go-to option during the Powerplay overs.
Mujeeb finished the tournament with a tally of seven wickets at an impressive economy rate of 7.23 runs per over and would be hoping to continue his disciplined bowling in the next season.
“I enjoyed my time at Middlesex so much, so I am very pleased to be coming back," the 18-year-old said, reacting to his signing.
“The whole team, on and off the field, made me feel very welcome and hopefully we can be successful together next season.”
Mujeeb has acquired a reputation of being a mystery spinner given the fact he possesses several variations in his bowling arsenal.
Contrary to the more traditional off-spin, Mujeeb tends to bowl quicker through the air relying on topspin, googlies and leg-spin.
Middlesex head coach Stuart Law welcomed back Mujeeb to the club.
“It’s great to have Mujeeb locked in for the Blast again in 2020. His ability to bowl economically in the powerplay is invaluable and he’s a great man to have in the dressing room," he said.
“We look forward to seeing him back at Middlesex next season.”
