Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme will travel with the squad for the upcoming tour of Australia, which kicks off from a three-match Test series starting December 12.
Boult and de Grandhomme had to sit out the second Test against England at Hamilton which resulted in a draw. De Grandhomme was ruled out due to a tear to his left abdominal muscle while Boult had complains of pain on the right side of his ribs.
Boult’s pain had forced him to leave the field on the final day of the first Test against England, where he could bowl only one over.
However, in a statement issued by NZC, the duo is showing good progress and they are set to travel to Perth with the squad where the first Test will be played.
It is understood that neither player is confirmed to feature in the first Test as head coach Gary Stead says both players will have to bowl longer spells in practice sessions.
The three match Test series starts off with a pink ball Test at Perth. The Test series will be followed up with three ODIs, which will start from March 13 next year.
