Off-spinner Dominic Bess and medium-pacer Craig Overton have been called up to England’s Test squad for South Africa series after their camp was struck by illness. The duo is likely to arrive in Johannesburg on Saturday morning.
As a result of the illness, England’s game against South Africa A, which is scheduled to be played on Friday, was stripped off the first-class status.
The contest against South Africa A will be a three-day friendly game with ‘only 11 players batting or fielding at any point in time’.
The press release further added: "ECB would like to take this opportunity to thank CSA for their flexibility on this situation and to emphasise that under normal circumstances we would have wanted to play the match first-class, but illness in the camp has made this very problematic."
Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer and Jack Leach have not travelled to Willowmoore Park, Benoni, which is the venue for practice game.
England are set to play four Tests before playing three ODIs and as many T20Is.
