Northamptonshire have signed Keiron Pollard for middle stages of the Vitality Blast 2020.
Pollard, who was announced as West Indies’ white ball captain last year, brings wealth of experience in the shortest format, where has played 499 T20s - the most by any cricketer. The all-rounder will join the county for eight matches, subject to approval from the WICB.
He has scored 9,966 runs in T20s at a whopping strike rate of 150.40, which will a lot of firepower to Northants Steelbacks’ middle-order.
"Now visa criteria permit I see this as a wonderful opportunity to be back in England again playing in the action-packed Vitality Blast tournament. I want to thank Northants for welcoming me to their group of exciting players.” Pollard said in a statement.
“I know they have some amazing fans and I look forward to entertaining them and bringing more success to the club.”
Head coach David Ripley said Pollard’s all-round abilities make him an absolute competitor.
“I’ve spoken to many people about Kieron and the biggest factor you get from everyone is that he’s a winner, he’s got a fantastic record in winning t20 comps, just an absolute competitor.” Ripley said.
“It helps the teams he plays for that he can bowl the big overs, field in key positions and whack it out of any cricket ground in the world.”
Northants start their Vitality Blast campaign on May 29 against Lancashire. They will play their first home fixture against Durham on June 5.
