Former South Africa batsman HD Ackerman has been appointed Afghanistan’s batting coach.
Ackerman, who represented South Africa across four Tests, will start his duties with the Afghanistan side on March 1, when they play Ireland in India.
The commentator turned coach will be working under Lance Klusener, who was appointed Afghanistan’s head coach towards the end of September last year.
Ackerman played four Tests in 1998, scoring 161 runs at an average of 20.12. He had a much prolific first-class career, where he scored 14,625 runs at 43.65.
His contract will run towards the end of this year.
