Durham have signed Farhaan Behardien and David Bedingham on Kolpak deals ahead of the 2020 season. Both players have ended their careers for South Africa as they will be available for Durham across all formats.
Behardien, 36, has represented South Africa in 59 ODIs and 38 T20Is, in a career which spanned almost five years. He has wealth of experience in first class cricket – scoring 6794 runs in 114 matches at an average of 41.17.
David Bedingham, who played for South Africa at the Under 19 level, has penned a one-year deal with the county. The wicket-keeper batsman has scored 2242 runs in 32 FC games at an average of 45.75.
“Behardien is such an experienced cricketer and with the young group of players we have in the squad he will help them develop their all-round game,” Durham Director of cricket Marcus North said in a statement.
“We are delighted to have him at Durham and are excited to welcome him to Emirates Riverside come the start of the season.”
Behardien, on his signing, remarked: “Signing for Durham comes at an exciting time in my career, I have loved representing South Africa for many years, but now is the time to explore a new chapter.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to support Durham’s ambitions and play a key role moving forward in their success. I look forward to joining up with the squad during their pre-season tour.”
