West Indies leave out Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer for Sri Lanka ODIs over fitness concerns

West Indies have left out Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer for the Sri Lanka ODIs as the pair couldn’t catch up with the ‘minimum fitness requirements’. Darren Bravo and Rovman Powell have been recalled to the squad.

Evin Lewis struck 102 and 99* against Ireland recently as he ended up being the highest run getter in the 2-1 series win.

"Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer missed out due to the fact that they came up short in the fitness test," said CWI selector Roger Harper.

"They will be missed, Lewis was the team's best batsman in the recent... ODI series against Ireland where he batted with great composure and proved the bedrock for the team's series win.

"Hetmyer appeared to be getting his act together and was an integral part of the team's batting group."

Darren Bravo has earned a recall following an impressive run in the domestic season, scoring 481 runs at an average of 96.20 in the Super50 Cup.

West Indies will face Sri Lanka in the first ODI starting February 22. They will also play two T20Is on their tour but haven’t named their squad for the shortest format yet.

West Indies squad:

Kieron Pollard (capt), Shai Hope (wkt), Fabian Allen, Sunil Ambris, Darren Bravo, Roston Chase, Sheldon Cottrell, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Keemo Paul, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd, Hayden Walsh
