Defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the Indian Premier League on March 29.
The full schedule of the T20 extravaganza was formally announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday.
The cash-rich league will continue for 57 days with the league stage expected to conclude on May 17, following which three qualifiers will be held to decide the finalists.
The immensely popular tournament, which revolutionized the short format in its inaugural edition in 2008, will feature a reduced number of doubleheaders this time around.
Only six afternoon games will take place as all of them are scheduled on Sunday.
The season opener will be conducted in Mumbai while the last league fixture will be hosted by Royal Challengers Bangalore, who take on Mumbai Indians in that clash.
The venue of the final has not been revealed yet but it is likely that Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium would be chosen for the grand finale on May 24.
The BCCI has also stated its intentions to organise an All Stars game among top players ahead of the IPL, though its details have not been confirmed so far.
IPL 13 offers the 38-year-old Dhoni a chance to reassert his esteemed standing in the sport given the fact that he has not appeared in a competitive game since the ICC World Cup last year.
The veteran Chennai skipper's performances in the IPL have traditionally been outstanding and the upcoming season could prove to be pivotal in his return to the national side before the T20 World Cup in October and November.
Other players will also be eying the IPL as a launchpad for their progression onto the international stage.
