Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings cop fine for slow over-rates

Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings have been sanctioned for maintaining slow over-rates during the sixth match of the HBL Pakistan Super League 2020 at the National Stadium on Sunday.

The fines were finalized after charges were levelled by on-field umpires Faisal Khan Afridi and Richard Illingworth, third umpire Asif Yaqoob and fourth umpire Syed Imtiaz Iqbal.

Match referee Roshan Mahanama imposed the fines based on the applicable sanctions for Minimum Over Rate offences with both teams' captains accepting the proposed punishment.

Gladiators and Kings were both found to be one over short of their target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with Article 2.22 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, the playing members from either side have been fined 10 percent of their match fees.

An additional slow over-rate offence in the tournament for either side will result in a 20 percent fine of the match fees for each member of the playing XI.

Defending champions Quetta triumphed in a close contest against hosts Karachi as they rode on the fireworks of Azam Khan to clinch their second win in three games.
