Jhye Richardson has been asked to stay back for Australia's ODI clashes against South Africa beginning Saturday after initially being included solely for the T20I series.
Australia's selection committee has also named an unchanged line-up for the ODI series against New Zealand at home next month with Richardson absent from the group of players.
Richardson made it into the T20I squad following a prolific run in the Big Bash League with the Perth Scorchers.
He has, however, not been able to get a game on the South Africa tour thus far but has impressed the selectors with his quick recovery.
The 23-year-old speedster was originally a member of Australia's World Cup squad last year but dislocated his shoulder ahead of the marquee event.
He last donned the national jersey in March 2019 against Pakistan during the ODI series in the United Arab Emirates.
"He has slotted back into the T20 squad in South Africa and is pushing for a place in that side," said chief selector Trevor Hohns.
"Keeping him in South Africa with the one-day squad gives us another exceptional fast bowler who is ready to go."
Australia's tour of South Africa concludes on March 7, following which they face New Zealand in the first of three ODIs in Sydney on March 13.
