Faf du Plessis back in South Africa's squad for India ODIs

Faf du Plessis has been named in South Africa's ODI squad which will tour India for a three-match series later this month.

Du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen were rested for the ongoing Australia ODIs but return to the side to bolster South Africa’s batting.

Left-arm orthodox spinner, George Linde, who made his Test debut against India in October last year, has been picked in place of Tabraiz Shamsi as he will be away for the birth of his first child. Kagiso Rabada will be unavailable as he is recovering from a groin injury.

Kyle Verreynne, who made an impressive start to international cricket by scoring 48 off 64 balls and taking three catches in the first ODI against Australia in Paarl, has been persisted with but Janneman Malan, who was removed first ball by Starc, has been dropped.

"It is a good opportunity for the players selected to put their hands up and show what they are capable of in the tough playing conditions of India," the CSA statement read.

The South African squad will leave for India following the final ODI against Australia in Potchefstroom on Saturday (March 7). The first ODI against India will be played in Dharamsala on March 12.

The second ODI will be hosted in Lucknow on March 15 whereas third ODI in Kolkata on March 18.
