Faisalabad started off the tournament with a thumping eight-wicket win over the Sarfraz Ahmed led Karachi Whites side.
Faisalabad skipper, Saeed Ajmal had opted to bowl first after winning the toss at Rawalpindi stadium. Karachi openers started off well, going at almost 10 runs per over before Asad Shafiq was adjudged lbw off Imran Khalid.
That, however didn’t stop them from scoring freely as Khurram Manzoor and Akbar-ur-Rehman put on 59 runs for the third wicket. Karachi Whites piled up 180 off 20 overs as Akbar-ur-Rehman stood tall with his magnificent 39-ball 60.
Faisalabad, in reply, were equally destructive, led by the opening duo of Sahibzada Farhan (76 off 52) and Gauhar Ali (70 off 35). Sahibzada Farhan remained not out and he alongside Asif Ali finished the game with ten balls to spare.
