Rahat Ali defended 18 runs off the last over to give Islamabad a marginal two-run victory over Rawalpindi.
Islamabad were put in to bat first and their openers – in particular Shan Masood looked in sublime touch, scoring 83 off just 52 balls. At the end of 20 overs, Islamabad set up a total of 176 to win. Given how well they were doing in the first 15 overs, Islamabad were probably 10-15 runs short.
Mohammad Abbas stood out with his two wickets although he went for eight per over.
Rawalpindi’s chase was well-led by Umar Amin who didn’t get as good as support from the other end. All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz was outstanding with his 43 off 23 but couldn’t get Rawalpindi over the finishing line in the final over.
