Following Ahmed Shehzad’s pick in the Gold category by the new entrants Multan Sultans in the third season of Pakistan Super League, Director Cricket Wasim Akram addressed the issue while talking to media in Lahore over a #ChaiWithSultans session.
Wasim Akram in a video interview with us wittily answered how he’s going to change Shehzad’s attitude towards the same.
“I know some eyebrows were raised when we picked him. I am going to talk to him in the next couple of days that he has to play cricket with us. He’s a good player but has not been performing well recently. He has been a little off track but my message to Ahmed Shehzad is to just play cricket,” said Multan Sultans’ Director Cricket.
“We have a very coaching staff, including our coach Tom Moody, team manager Nadeem Khan and batting consultant Mohammad Waseem, who will work him,” added Akram.
The Sultan of swing also praised Amir, saying he's the most experienced and most skilful right now apart from Usman Shinwari who got injured.
Wasim also addressed the rumours of Imran Nazir, saying that how could they have picked him when he has not played any T20 or first-class cricket.
Wasim further added that they picked young Saif Badr on the suggestion of Shoaib Malik. “I went with captain’s gut on this.”
Commenting on Karachi Kings already boasting themselves as the Kings of the third addition of the PSL, Wasim jokingly added: “Karachi can be the Kings and Multan Sultans will become the champions.”
The third edition of the PSL starts February next year.
