St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 110/9 in 20 overs (Ben Dunk 33; Mohammad Nabi 5-15)
St Lucia Zouks 111/4 in 14.4 overs (Najibullah Zadran 33, Roston Chase 27*; Imran Khan 3-23)
Najibullah Zadran (33) and Roston Chase (27*) made crucial contributions while Mohammad Nabi bagged a five-for to power St Lucia Zouks to a six-wicket win over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the CPL 2020. St Lucia overhauled the target of 111 in the 15th over.
St Lucia started on a good note in their chase, with Rahkeem Cornwall and Andre Fletcher sharing an association of 30 for the opening wicket. Cornwall, in particular, showcased his pyrotechnics by clubbing three sixes and two boundaries. However, against the run of play, Imran Khan, the leg-spinner, dismissed Cornwall and Mark Deyal in successive deliveries to leave St Lucia at 30 for 2. He also removed Fletcher, as St Lucia slipped further to 52/3.
Chase and Najibullah then propped up the innings with an alliance of 47 for the fourth wicket. Chase cracked a couple of fours while Najibullah collected four boundaries and a six. With the scoring reading 99/3, Najibullah fell to Ben Dunk, but by then the result of the match was more or less a foregone conclusion. Javelle Glenn alongside Chase provided the finishing touches.
The foundation for St Lucia's comfortable victory was laid by Nabi, with the all-rounder running through St Kitts and Nevis' batting unit. Nabi alongside Zahir Khan had reduced the opponent to 38 for 5 in the ninth over. Dunk tried to resurrect the innings with 33, but he fell to Cornwall with St Kitts and Nevis sliding further to 62 for 6. Alzarri Joseph, batting at No.9, composed a useful unbeaten 21 to push his side past the 100-run mark. For St Lucia, Nabi finished with noteworthy figures of 5 for 15, his maiden fifer in T20 cricket.
St Lucia have eight points and are placed second while St Kitts and Nevis languish at the bottom of the table with just two points.
