Ahmed Shehzad’s blistering 50 off 22 balls and Ali Shafiq’s 3-21 helped Lahore Blues edge Peshawar by three runs in a last over thriller.
Shehzad, who has been struggling to score runs recently, struck nine fours and one maximum for his 50 off 22 balls before miscuing a hit straight to the fielder. Skipper Mohammad Hafeez scored 30 off 30 whereas Hussain Talat chipped in with a handy 37 off 28 to get his side to a total of 173.
Rafatullah Mohmand struck a quick 40 off 25 balls but there weren’t any significant contributions from the Peshawar batsmen except for Naved Yasin who remained unbeaten for 62(44).
Naved took Aizaz Cheema to cleaners in the 18th over and by the end of that expensive over, Peshawar required 17 off the last two. The likes of Hussain Talat and Ali Shafiq ensured that Peshawar don’t get to the total and instead, they were bowled out with one ball remaining.
