Afghanistan Under-19s trumped Pakistan Under-19s by 185 runs to win the final of the Under-19s Asia Cup played at Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. Ikram Faizi’s unbeaten 107 backed up with a brilliant five-wicket haul by Mujeeb Zadran stood out as game-changing performances by the Afghan side.
The Afghan top order did most of the job, including a significant contribution by the wicket-keeper batsman, Ikram Faizi, whose unbeaten 107 off 113 balls lifted the total to a decent 248 by the end of 50 overs.
Muhammad Musa picked up three wickets whereas left arm pace sensation, Shaheen Shah Afridi, ended up knocking over two batsmen.
Pakistan U-19s looked clueless in the run-chase and particularly against the off-spin of Mujeeb Zadran whose 5-13 restricted them to a meagre 63 runs within a span of 22.1 overs. Mohammad Taha (19) and skipper Hasan Khan (10) were the only two batsmen to cross double figures in the Pakistan line-up.
Ikram Faizi was adjudged as player of the match whereas Mujeeb Zadran was named man of the series for his 20 wickets in the tournament.
