Mitchell Marsh ruled out of IPL; Jason Holder called up as replacement

Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) after suffering an ankle injury during Sunrisers Hyderabad's clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday.

The injury to Marsh occurred on the second ball of his opening over while trying to stop a drive from RCB opener Aaron Finch.

He bowled two more deliveries before exiting the field and later limped out to bat with his side eight down on the edge of defeat. Marsh's resilience lasted only one ball as he was out caught in the deep trying to clear the boundary fence with an ambitious slog.

Marsh will be replaced with West Indies Test skipper Jason Holder, who returns to the Sunrisers camp four years after his last IPL appearance for Kolkata Knight Riders.
