Pakistan's team management has decided to omit openers Imam-ul-Haq and Abid Ali, and middle-order batsman Haris Sohail from the T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against Zimbabwe in Rawalpindi.
The three were a part of the recently concluded ODI series where Pakistan triumphed by a margin of 2-1.
Haris top-scored for his team in the series opener with an 82-ball 71 but did not play the remaining matches after enduring cramp troubles during his regal knock.
Imam scored a half-century in the first ODI and missed out on the 50-run mark in the subsequent outing by a single run whereas Abid flopped on both the occasions he was added into the playing XI.
Imam's exclusion comes as a surprise since he was Balochistan's leading run-getter in last month's National T20 Cup, averaging 53.57 in the tournament while maintaining an impressive strike rate of 144.78.
The trio's absence reduces Pakistan's squad strength from the initial 22-member probables for the white-ball fixtures to 19 players.
Pakistan are likely to persist with skipper Babar Azam and hard-hitting southpaw Fakhar Zaman as the preferred opening duo in T20Is.
The T20I series will begin on November 7 with the final clash scheduled to take place on November 10. Four days later, Karachi will host the playoffs stage of the marquee Pakistan Super League 2020.
