Khurram Shehzad and Faheem Ashraf struck a 78-run sixth-wicket partnership off just 33 balls to take Faisalabad home in a run-fest as Faisalabad chased down a mammoth total of 194 to beat Rawalpindi by five wickets with one ball to spare in the 22nd match of National T20 Cup 2017.
Chasing 194, Faisalabad were off to a bad start as both the openers failed to make any significant contribution. But Sohaib Maqsood, who came in at number three, smashed a 43-ball 87 to put chase back on track. Faisalabad were 121 for the loss of five wickets when Faheem joined Khurram in the middle. The two youngsters combined for a 78-run sixth wicket partnership to deliver a stunning win for their side. Needing 12 off the last over, Faisalabad crossed the line with a ball to spare with Faheem finishing the game with a massive six over long-off.
Earlier, batting first Rawalpindi posted a total of 193 courtesy fifties from Umar Amin and Zain Abbas and a late cameo from Sohail Tanvir.
Sohaib Maqsood was adjudged man of the match for his 87 off 43 balls.
