FATA beat Karachi Whites by 19 runs in a high-scoring match in the National T20 Cup on Wednesday.
FATA’s opening batsman Mukhtar Ahmed scored a belligerent 117 from 58 balls, which went down as the first century of the tournament, to take his side to the highest total of the tournament.
His 58-ball stay at the crease was embellished by 15 4s and six 6s.
A 14-ball cameo by hard-hitting Sohail Akhtar took his side past 200-run mark. Akhtar struck 39 runs hitting five 6s and a four.
Sarfraz Ahmed-led Karachi lost their opener Asad Shafiq earlier in the chase as Sameen Gul hit knocked his middle-stump in the second over. But Khurram Manzoor’s 61-ball 104 kept the game swinging like a pendulum.
He was joined by Haris Sohail, who struck 50 off 23 balls, in the middle-part of the chase as they struck a 98-run partnership.
However, with Sohail getting caught in the penultimate over and Manzoor falling on the last ball of the same over, FATA gained the momentum which won them their second match of the tournament.
