Pakistan have announced an extended 35-man squad for the upcoming New Zealand tour comprising of three T20Is and two Test matches.
The players will both be available for selection for the first-choice Pakistan national team and the Shaheens [A team] squad.
Pakistan have notably dropped 77-Test veteran Asad Shafiq from the line-up, marking the first instance in the 34-year-old's decade-long career that he has been ignored for a Test call-up.
Shafiq was woefully out of form in Pakistan's previous Test assignment in England earlier this summer as he managed a paltry sum of 67 runs across five innings at a pitiable average of 13.40.
Additionally, Pakistan have avoided recalling the senior duo of Mohammad Amir and Shoaib Malik in the team after they were also not a part of their recent white-ball series against Zimbabwe at home.
In a new-look squad for Pakistan, chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq has inducted as many as five uncapped players in the side - Danish Aziz, Imran Butt, Rohail Nazir, Amad Butt and Zeeshan Malik.
